Essential Oils to Fight Winter Cold & Flu

  • Frankincense Essential Oil: antiseptic, astringent, anti-inflammatory, expectorant, stress relief

    - 2 drops frankincense essential oil

    - 2 drops orange essential oil

    - 1 drop eucalyptus essential oil

    - Mix well before entering the bath.

  • Steam Inhalation: relieves congestion

    - Add several drops to a bowl of steaming water or use the bath blend above.

    - Place a towel over your head and lean over the bowl to inhale the steam.

    - Repeat throughout the day.

  • Hot or Cold Compress: for congestion and headaches

    - Microwave a damp washcloth and add several drops of essential oils.

    - For congestion, add a drop of eucalyptus essential oil.

    - For headaches, include a few drops of lavender.

    - Place the washcloth on your forehead or chest for relief.

  • Oregano Essential Oil: antiviral and antimicrobial

  • Sublingual Use: only with top-grade oil

    - Place a few drops under your tongue for immediate relief.

  • Massage or Diffuser Blend:

    - 2 drops oregano essential oil

    - 2 drops rosemary essential oil

    - 2 drops peppermint essential oil

    - For massage, mix with 4 tsp of a carrier oil.

  • Eucalyptus Essential Oil: decongestant

    - Do not ingest as it can be toxic.

  • Congestion Relief:

    - Use in a diffuser, steam inhalation, hot bath, or vaporizer.

    - Blend: 3 drops eucalyptus, 2 drops lavender, 2 drops peppermint.

  • Prevent Spread:

    - Diffuse or vaporize 3 drops eucalyptus and 3 drops tea tree oil.

  • Calming Coughs: chest rub

    - 4 drops eucalyptus essential oil

    - 2 drops myrrh essential oil

    - 4 drops cedarwood essential oil

    - 4 tsp carrier oil

  • Aching Body Remedy:

    - Use in a hot bath, cold compress, or massage.

    - Blend: 4 drops eucalyptus, 2 drops ginger, 4 drops rosemary, 4 tsp carrier oil.
