Meditation Teacher, Yoga Instructor & Director of Digital Marketing
Meditation and Yoga have a special place in my heart. I have learned, through personal experience, about the healing properties of these practices. Meditation, in particular, has given me the balance and calm that I feel is essential in my own life, and I have dedicated myself to helping others in their pursuit of health and happiness. I started my health and wellness journey in nursing school and progressed on through 14 years of college education, training in Sports Medicine, Athletic Training, Psychology, Meditation, and Yoga.
From a very young age, helping people was my goal. I was able to attend nursing school directly after high school graduation, and that is when my journey took off. After two years of nursing school, clinical work, and certification, I decided to continue my education in Sports Medicine and Athletic Training. I studied in those programs for three years before deciding that I wanted to turn my focus inward after taking a course in Psychology of Sport.
Anatomy, Physiology, Kinesiology, and Injury Prevention continue to be of particular interest to me, but the mind was my new focus. I wanted to learn about healing the whole body. I ended up getting my initial degrees from the University of Wyoming. I have a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies with Concentrations in Southeast Asian Religions and Christianity.
After leaving Wyoming, I went to study at Naropa University. I was taught Tibetan Buddhist Meditation by Lama Tenpa, Judith Simmer-Brown, and other world renowned Buddhism scholars. Learning more about myself and how I wanted to help others during graduate school was invaluable. As part of my education, I completed a month long Yoga and Meditation retreat and Yoga Teacher Training.
After everything was said and done, I left Naropa University with the ability to teach Meditation and Yoga, and with a Master of Arts degree in Indo-Tibetan Buddhism with a Concentration in History of Religion. More than that, though, I have the ability to help people. I can offer tools to allow people to know and better themselves.
Since completing my Masters of Arts degree, I have continued learning, and have earned an additional certification as a Mindfulness and Meditation Instructor. Continuing education is important to me, and there will be more to come!
